What is Lightning Watchtower?

Main purpose of the watchtowers is to protect funds of other lightning nodes if node they are watching goes offline.

When your node is online, it protects itself. But when it's offline, it needs a watchtower to help protect it.

For example, when node goes offline for some time, and you have open channels, other party can put old channel state where they have more funds than you. That is a moment where whatchtowers need to react and protect your node from outdated information (channel state) and losing sats.

How to Add Watchtower to My LND Node?

In order to add BullTower watchtower you can use command written below:

lncli wtclient add 021cf043249acc0b497c6d8f291fd6fd18deba07f3c481777631bb469c6ea86446@a6z5w3wiymr4je5py2hdvoknm26qyo4ghwmera2pod722nowou73uzid.onion:9911

The best strategy is to have two or more watchtowers connected to your node just in case any of them goes temporary or permanelty offline.
